NCDA Professional Development Survey Reveals Member Preferences

Access to professional development activities via technology-based mediums is now among the top three preferred delivery systems for career development professionals. The implications of this are far greater access to professional development activities for NCDA members. In a 2004 NCDA survey of professional development needs, 489 respondents cited the following top activity preferences:

    (1) What's New In Career Assessment,
    (2) Using Technology In Career Development & Job Search,
    (3) Career Groups & Facilitation Of Techniques,
    (4) Increasing Clients' Employability, and
    (5) Practical Applications of Career Theory.
The top five delivery methods preferred were as follows:
    (1) Regional PDI's,
    (2) On-line Course,
    (3) Drive In Workshop,
    (4) Reading the Career Development Quarterly and other NCDA publications, and
    (5) Webinar.
