New Feature encourages online discussion
Readers of the Career Convergence web magazine may have noticed the option to add a Comment at the end of the article. This new Feature allows a discussion or blog to start in response to a particular article.
Here is how it works
New articles that have been posted in the web magazine since May 2010 show a new section at the end. The heading “Comments” is followed by “Leave a comment” which is where the reader will need to click. A box appears, allowing the reader to fill in their name, which will be displayed and their email address, which will not be displayed. The Comment box is where the reader types in their reaction to the article or asks a question or in general responds in some way.
Three check boxes appear after the Comment box. The first two are optional.
-
Notify me when others add comments
-
Allow others to reply directly to me
-
I have read and agree to abide by the Terms of Use.
The third requires the reader to read and agree to the Terms of Use. Once the reader clicks on the words “Terms of Use” and reads it, the box can be checked without reading the Terms each time a Comment is made.
Please note the Disclaimer, in fine print at the bottom of the Comments section:
Disclaimer: The opinions expressed in the comments shown above are those of the
individual comment authors and do not reflect the opinions of the this organization.
Who Receives the Comments?
The Comments posted by readers are automatically viewable online. The Comments are also emailed directly to the author of the article, the web magazine Editor and Associate Editor. While we trust that the Comments follow the Terms of Use (specifically in the appropriateness of the text), the automatic email allows the editor to see and delete comments if necessary.
Benefits of the Comments
Readers of Career Convergence have frequently told NCDA how valuable the web magazine is to their work. Occasionally these responses from readers include feedback or questions specific to the article posted. This new Comments section allows everyone, the author, editors, and readers, to benefit from feedback immediately. The resulting discussions from posted Comments could encourage additional learning for the whole community!
NCDA is thrilled to provide this new option to the readers of Career Convergence and welcomes new Comments at any time. Questions about this article may be posted in the Comments section below!
