WIOA Summary and Letter to DOL
With new federal workforce legislation becoming effective this July, the NCDA Government Relations Committee will be providing information about the career counseling aspects of the law.
As the first step, the committee has reviewed the hundreds of pages of regulations proposed by the US Departments of Labor and Education to implement the Workforce Innovation and Opportunities Act (WIOA) legislation and summarized the career counseling and other related elements in a Proposed Rules Summary Analysis (see link below). NCDA plans to provide comments to the federal agencies concerning relevant career counseling concerns which it will share with members as well as encouraging any member or state association to directly comment. The Committee will also be identifying and sharing member best practices involvement with the current WIA system that could be used with the new WIOA system.
