The 2007 Pharmacy Technician Education Program, presented by the Ohio Pharmacists Foundation & Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists will be held Friday, August 17, 2007 at the Makoy Center in Hilliard, OH.

Pharmacy technicians have requested live programming on disease states and treatment options, pharmacy law, and technology. This seminar, directed toward technicians, includes all those topics and more. Come earn seven (7) contact hours of continuing education for pharmacy technicians, including one (1) hour of pharmacy law.

Cancer: Screening & Treatment

Pharmacy Law: 2007 Update
Learn what you can and cannot do while practicing under Ohio and federal laws, as well as the role of technicians with pharmacy errors. Our State Board speaker can answer your questions.

Bar Coding and Medication Errors
Increase your knowledge of the newest technologies with bar coding for the medication distribution process and how it can decrease errors.

Communicating with Diverse Populations
Gain understanding and compassion necessary in caring for diverse populations with regards to cultural considerations such as language barriers, religious beliefs, ethnic traditions, and socioeconomic background. Learn how to avoid stereotypes and guarantee cultural sensitivity and appropriate services, good communication and trust.

Management of High Cholesterol
It is estimated that 30% of the 46 million Americans with high cholesterol take medications. Learn about the most current drugs to treat cholesterol, including the impact of direct-to-consumer advertising of these products.

AIDS Medication Update
In 2006, nearly 40 million people worldwide were identified with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome and 3 million deaths were reported. This presentation will include the newest classes of drugs and therapies to treat AIDS.

According to the CDC, America is home to the most obese people in the world. This can be attributed to the American lifestyle and diet. Learn signs of obesity, symptoms, prevention and treatment of this epidemic disease.
