How did you get interested in the profession of pharmacy?

I was almost 12 years old when my grandmother got cancer. I was very scared and I went to the pharmacy with my parents and my grandmother to get her medications. We all were very sad and none of us really knew what these medications were or how they would help my grandma. A pharmacist took time out of his busy schedule and explained the functioning of these drugs and how would they help my grandma get better. I was very impressed by that pharmacist and pharmacy in general and decided to become a pharmacist.

Why did you choose OPA as a rotation site?

Dr Curtis Black came to our class and talked about the OPA rotation. He explained the importance of understanding the profession from an organizational point of view and learn more about being a pharmacy owner.

What was the most significant or surprising experience at OPA?

Legislative experience was the most significant and surprising experience as I didn’t know anything about the politics involved in passing a bill. I learned about legislators, process of passing a bill, learned about the influence and power of being a voter and more. It was a great experience and I would recommend everyone to be more involved in the law process if possible.

What other pharmacy associations/organizations do you belong to?

I belong to APhA.

Golf, reading, tennis and watching football.
