NEW Immunization Training for Travel & Rabies Vaccines Available from OPF

Ohio Pharmacists Foundation (OPF) has released a new home-study continuing pharmacy education article, Immunizations for Typhoid, Yellow Fever, Japanese Encephalitis, Cholera and Rabies. This home-study provides 0.15 CEU of continuing pharmacy education credit and has been approved by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a supplemental course for pharmacists/interns who were previously trained to administer immunizations, but whose training did not include the typhoid, yellow fever, Japanese encephalitis, cholera and rabies vaccines.

As a reminder, a pharmacist or pharmacy intern must be able to document that he/she meets the training criteria for each immunization that he/she will be administering. Prior to administering an immunization listed in rule 4729-5-38 of the Ohio Administrative Code, paragraph (C) of rule 4729-5-36 requires a pharmacist or pharmacy intern to complete additional coursework if his/her current certification does not include training on that particular immunization. Upon successful completion of this supplemental course, OPF will mail a certificate of achievement to the pharmacist or pharmacy intern as documentation for his/her immunization training records.
