June 13 Webinar: “Measles Update for Healthcare Providers”

The Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Bureau of Infectious Diseases will host a measles update webinar on Friday, June 13 at noon. The webinar will include a current review of measles activity, risk, and prevention in Ohio. Information provided will include case definition, reporting, and testing guidance for measles. Participants will also learn about current measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine recommendations for their pediatric, adolescent, and adult patients, along with information on vaccinating healthcare personnel during an outbreak.

State Medical, Pharmacy, and Nursing Boards Issue Joint Regulatory Statement on Retail IV Therapy Clinics

In response to the increasing number of retail IV therapy clinics operating in the state, the State Medical Board of Ohio, Ohio Board of Pharmacy, and Ohio Board of Nursing issued a joint regulatory statement highlighting critical patient safety concerns and the importance of regulatory compliance in this emerging sector.

OAPA Advances Preceptor Tax Incentive

On May 14, OAPA Past President and Government Affairs Committee member Melissa Bowlby, MHA, MSBS, PA-C, DFAAPA, provided Interested Party Testimony to the Ohio Senate Government Oversight and Reform Committee in support of a preceptor tax incentive amendment into HB96, the biennium state budget bill.

Support PA Education: Protect Federal Student Loan Access

The House Education and Workforce Committee unveiled a proposal to eliminate the Grad PLUS loan program and impose new, restrictive borrowing caps on federal Stafford loans for graduate borrowers, including PA students. If enacted, this proposal would severely limit access to affordable financing for PA students — threatening the future health workforce at a time of growing provider shortages, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
