Call for Nominations for the 2011 RSA Awards

In 2011 RSA will select winners of two awards: the RSA Book Award and the RSA Dissertation Award. Please consider nominating a student, colleague, or yourself for one of these awards.

Nominations are reviewed by the Awards Committee of the RSA Board, which recommends winners to the Board.

2011 Book Award:

Submit 3 copies of the book to the Awards Committee Chair: Cara A. Finnegan, Department of Communication, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 103 Communication Building, 1207 W. Oregon St., MC-456, Urbana, IL 61801. Email queries: caraf@illinois.edu.

Deadline for nominations: Jan. 31, 2011.

The 2011 Book Award honors books published by RSA members between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. Generally, edited collections and second editions are not eligible for this award; translations are eligible. Book Award nominees must supply convincing evidence that the book was published in 2010 (such as an indication on the copyright page or a letter from the publisher stating the month and year of publication). Letters of nomination (paper or electronic) are welcome but not required. Authors may nominate their own work.

2011 Dissertation Award:

For the 2011 Awards, submit nominations to the Awards Committee Chair: Cara A. Finnegan, Department of Communication, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, 103 Communication Building, MC-456, 1207 W. Oregon St., Urbana, IL 61801. Email queries and electronic nomination materials are welcome at caraf@illinois.edu. The nomination package should include 3 copies of the following: dissertation abstract; letter of recommendation from the supervising professor certifying that the dissertation was defended within the eligibility period; a thirty-five page extract from the dissertation.

Deadline for nominations: Jan. 31, 2011.

Dissertations are eligible if they were completed between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010. To be considered for the Dissertation Award, the scholar must be a member of RSA. The 2011 dissertation awards will be presented at the 2011 RSA Institute.
