How did you get interested in the profession of pharmacy? I became interested in the profession of pharmacy after taking an introduction to pharmacy course as an undergrad. Until that point, I never realized all that pharmacists were engaged in. Throughout the course, speakers from different areas of pharmacy came and shared what they did and I saw how much patient interaction pharmacists can have. It is this high level of patient care that attracted me to the profession. Upon finishing the course, I started working in a pharmacy and have been there ever since. |

Why did you choose OPA as a rotation? I chose OPA as a rotation site because I have heard from previous students what a great experience it is. In choosing this rotation, I wanted to gain more experience learning what state associations do and to gain insight into the organization behind the Annual Conference and Trade Show. In addition, I wanted to learn more about what goes into publishing the monthly journal. |
|
What was the most significant or surprising experience at OPA? The most surprising experience at OPA was how such a small number of people is able to put together an event like the OPA Annual Conference. Before spending a month at OPA, I had been to the Annual Conference several times, but I never realized how much work was going on behind the scenes. From my first day of rotation, I got introduced to the organized, craziness that leads up to the Annual Conference. It is unbelievable how such a small number of people can work together to accomplish so much. |
