Pharmacy Legislative Day

Legislative Day is a vehicle that allows pharmacists to meet with legislators to discuss a proactive approach to health care.  In the complex world of health care, the exchange of information between legislators and pharmacists is critical.  Legislative Day is designed to build levels of communication and develop open dialogue between pharmacists and lawmakers.

The Ohio Pharmacists Association and the Ohio Society of Health-System Pharmacists have joined together to sponsor this event to inform you of crucial legislation involving pharmacy. You will learn how to make your voice heard in Ohio’s political arena, and find out how important it is to keep your legislators informed about pharmacy issues before them.

At the conclusion of this program, participants should be able to:

Driving directions, where to park, and a list of downtown hotels will be included with your confirmation when you register for Pharmacy Legislative Day.

Pharmacy Continuing Education

Pharmacists can earn 3 hours (0.3 CEU) of continuing pharmacy education credit at the 2011 Pharmacy Legislative Day.

*approved for one hour of Ohio jurisprudence continuing education credit.
These CE sessions are application-based activities.

This seminar is targeted to all Ohio pharmacists. To receive CE credit, pharmacists must sign and return the CE form distributed at the program. Statements of CE credit will be distributed at the conclusion of the meeting to pharmacists who attend the entire meeting and submit the completed CE form. All other statements of credit will be mailed. 

The Ohio Pharmacists Foundation adheres to ACPE Standards regarding industry support of continuing pharmacy education.  Disclosure of faculty and commercial support relationships will be made known at the activity.  Speakers are expected to openly disclose intent to discuss any off-label or investigational use of drugs, devices, or equipment in their presentations.

The Ohio Pharmacists Foundation Inc. is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education.

9:00 a.m.          2011 Update on State Laws, Rules and Legislation
Mark Keeley, R.Ph.,  Legislative Affairs Administrator, Ohio State Board of Pharmacy
Recent and proposed changes in state laws and rules will affect you and your pharmacy practice. This program will provide the  latest information on HB 93 regarding pain management clinics including proposed board rules for pharmacist use of OARRS, as well as other proposed legislation impacting pharmacy.

10:00 a.m.    Legislative Leaders Forum
Invited Ohio legislators will discuss current legislation pertaining to pharmacy.

Discussion of pharmacy issues for legislative meetings

1-4 p.m.    Meet with your legislators
Attendees will be scheduling appointments with their State Representative and State Senator.  Details and directions on how to do this will be sent to online registrants via email.
