Double the impact of OPA! Double the Pharmacy PAC!

To my fellow pharmacists,

PAC LogoThrough the years we have had many pharmacists contribute to the OPA Pharmacy Political Action Committee (PAC). As chair of the PAC, I want to sincerely thank everyone who has made a donation over the years. Your support has yielded big results.

Just in the past year, OPA has successfully passed legislation that expands immunization authority for pharmacists & pharmacy interns, gives pharmacists the ability to fit diabetic shoes, enables pharmacists to dispense medications without a prescription in times of a governor-declared emergency, and for the first time ever, protects pharmacists from abusive and wasteful audits. And I’m happy to report that there’s more to come.

Over the coming year, OPA has plans to attack limited pharmacy networks, address workplace conditions, create MAC pricing standards, expand pharmacist abilities in consult agreements, ensure coverage of medication synchronization for patients, increase access to naloxone, and to fight for pharmacist provider status. And this list doesn’t include all the things OPA does to defend and protect the profession as well!

Our PAC is made up of pharmacists who have made a voluntary contribution to support the campaigns of individual state legislators who support us: Ohio pharmacists. Being a state-based PAC, not one penny goes to any federal legislators, and zero of the money goes to support the association.

The OPA PAC needs to be financially strong to protect and enhance the profession of pharmacy in Ohio. I can tell you from experience that we’ll have to do increase our PAC funds if we are going to attain our ambitious goals moving forward. That is why over the course of the next year, I have set a goal to double our PAC coffers so that OPA can maximize its impact at the Statehouse.

The reality is that it takes political contributions from individuals like you in order for us to be successful. OPA fights for Ohio pharmacists’ interests on a daily basis. Can I count on you to continue to support our efforts?

To contribute to the OPA Pharmacy PAC and support our legislative efforts, visit http://bit.ly/OPA_PAC  or mail a personal contribution made payable to “Ohio Pharmacists Association Pharmacy PAC” to Ohio Pharmacists Association, 2674 Federated Blvd, Columbus, OH 43235. No corporate checks allowed.

Thank you for being a part of our mission to double the size and impact of our Pharmacy PAC!

Professionally,

Kathy Karas, R.Ph.
Chair, OPA PAC Committee
