Genesys Health System (GHS) is seeking an exemplary leader to serve as the Director, Medical Education. GHS, located in Grand Blanc, Michigan, is a member of Ascension Health, a large national Catholic health system. GHS is a non-profit healthcare organization with 410 licensed beds and a diverse and active Osteopathic and Allopathic staff numbering 736 physicians. GHS, an approved provider for Pioneer ACO model of care, is one of the most comprehensive providers in Michigan with 14 specialty programs and 165 interns/residents/fellows. The organization provides inpatient, outpatient and emergency care services; a full continuum of care including; acute care, long-term care, hospice, ambulatory and home care.

From 2007 to 2012, HealthGrades has recognized GHS as “America’s 50 Best Hospitals” for clinical excellence. The medical school affiliations include; Michigan State University — College of Human Medicine and College of Osteopathic Medicine and A.T. Still University, Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. GHS residency programs demonstrate quality; in the top 10% and has significant relationships with American Osteopathic Association (AOA) and Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) programs and accreditation.

Successful candidates for the Director, Medical Education will be respected physician executives or healthcare administrators with excellent graduate medical education program management track records. Candidates must have demonstrated effective leadership abilities and have experience in a similar role. The Director will be expected to build, develop and solidify innovative learning programs, provide collaborative education within GHS and with schools of medicine, and achieve state-of-the-art educational programs. Overall, the Director will be expected to expand and enhance the medical education programs, function in the lead role regarding the strategic direction and vision, and guide the administrative activities across the organization; managing a team of over 200 individuals. He/she will have significant graduate medical education, continuing medical education and related research management responsibilities along with serving as the Designated Institutional Officer for dual accrediting bodies.

Candidates should ideally hold an Osteopathic Doctor of Medicine degree and appropriate board certification. Additionally, candidates must exhibit values consistent with the mission of GHS being a leading and innovative provider of spiritually-centered, holistic care that allows the creation of hope by sustaining and improving the health of individuals and communities served.
