Dr. Jennifer Lares, CFSP
Dr. Jennifer Lares, CFSP has been a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer in Florida since 1998 and holds an active dual license in Texas (2017). Over her 30+ year career, she has also held licenses in Washington, Nevada, Tennessee, and North Carolina. From 2007–2012, she served in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman specializing in Mortuary Affairs.
Jennifer earned her Doctor of Business Administration from the University of the Incarnate Word in 2019 and began her teaching career shortly thereafter. She served as an adjunct instructor in Northeast Texas Community College’s funeral service program starting in 2021 and became a full-time instructor in August 2024. Between December 2021 and July 2024, she served as a civilian Mortuary Officer at the U.S. Army Regional Mortuary, Europe & Africa, in Landstuhl, Germany, helping return fallen service members and other eligible persons home. She has over eight years of combined experience as a Department of Defense mortician.
In May 2024, Jennifer founded Mulling Mortician LLC, a passion project dedicated to providing accessible, practical training for funeral service professionals, both virtually and onsite. She shares educational content on her YouTube channel and is a frequent contributor to American Funeral Director magazine, featured in October 2024 and July 2025. She is an approved continuing education provider in Texas, Florida, and through the Academy of Professional Funeral Service Practice (APFSP). Jennifer has been a guest on multiple industry podcasts and actively serves as a mentor.
Her research on the funeral profession has been presented at social science conferences in Detroit, MI, and Princeton, NJ. She has also presented at numerous industry events, including the 2025 ICCFA DeadTalks, OFDA, and the 2025 Spring South Texas Funeral Directors Association Meeting, and continues to create virtual education and training sessions for funeral service professionals.
