Full Time Firefighter-Paramedic & EMT

Reports to: Chief or designee.
This job requires the employee to work under the direction of the Fire Chief of the City of Wauseon; respond to fire alarms; assist with controlling and extinguishing fires; operate numerous pieces of equipment. Operate hand tools; respond to life-threatening situations and provide emergency medical treatment, as necessary; and all other functions necessary to ensure the safety of the public as required by the Fire Chief.
Successful candidates are required to serve a one (1) year probationary period. Potential candidates will be required to take a medical examination by a licensed physician and undergo physical ability testing, drug testing and submit to an extensive background check.
Potential candidates must be 21 years of age by the date of the test and be a citizen of the United States of America, or have legally declared their intentions of becoming a United States citizen.
Annual salary for the entry level position of firefighter/paramedic starts at $42,653.00 plus benefits, and Firefighter/EMT starts at $37,806.00.
Employees in this classified position are “7(k) eligible” as described in 29 USC § 207(k) and subject to a 212 hour platoon schedule every 28 days. Applicants must meet the following qualifications and requirements at the time of the appointment.
