Spring Valley Township
Due to an upcoming retirement, Spring Valley Township is accepting applications for the position of Fire Chief. Spring Valley Township is located in southwestern Greene County. The Spring Valley Township community is known for its high quality of life in a quiet, rural atmosphere. The Spring Valley Township Fire Department is primarily a volunteer department with 18 volunteer/part-time and four part-time personnel. The department is a full-service agency that provides emergency response services to a community of 2,581 residents in an area of approximately 35 square miles.
The Fire Chief reports directly to the Board of Trustees. The Fire Chief’s position will require an active, hands-on individual who can lead a progressive, combination department. Successful applicants will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, and have a broad background in all aspects of service delivery including suppression, EMS, prevention and inspection.
Requirements include a minimum of 10 years progressively responsible fire service experience, with five or more years as a command officer (Captain/Shift Officer or above), and the following state of Ohio certifications: Firefighter II, EMT-P, and a valid Ohio operator’s license. Applicants should also possess or have the ability to obtain CFSI and fire instructor certification. Desired qualifications include completion of Fire Officer I-II training and experience in a combination department. The successful applicant must be in good physical condition and have the ability to pass all pre-employment screenings including physical examination and drug screening.
The salary range for this position is $40,000-$45,000, DOQ and experience, and includes a negotiable benefits package. Interested candidates should submit a cover letter, resume, including experience and achievements in program and project management, and copies of required certifications to:
