Battalion Chief

Description: The City of Lebanon is accepting applications for the position of Battalion Chief for the Lebanon Division of Fire. This position is responsible for the readiness of facilities, station, unit, all equipment, and gear for any emergency or non-emergency situation. This position requires operation as an Incident Commander on emergency scenes. Duties are performed under the direction of the Fire Chief and Assistant Fire Chief. This position requires general knowledge of office equipment and equipment associated with emergency rescue, hazardous material, environmental control, and life support. The primary work site is Fire Station 41 (601 N Broadway, Lebanon, OH 45036). Attendance at meetings may take place inside or outside the City of Lebanon.

Hiring Process: The hiring process will consist of a physical agility test, panel interviews, assessment center and final interviews, in order as listed below. Physical Agility Test – Modified CPAT with 10:20 minute pass/fail; Candidates that pass the agility test will be asked to attend a panel interview. Agility test slots will be assigned and emailed. 30-minute Panel Interview; The candidate pool will be narrowed to five following panel interviews. Availability will be requested at the agility test for interview scheduling. Assessment Center; Results for the assessment center will be delivered to LFD and processed within a week. Final Interview with City Manager and Fire Chief for top 5 candidates. Availability will be requested at the assessment center for final interview scheduling.

Conditional Offer: Background Investigation, Voice Stress Analyzer, and Pension Physical (or standard physical if currently enrolled in the OP&F pension) including drug screening. About the Lebanon Division of Fire The Fire Division is an ISO Class 3 Fire and EMS Department consisting of approximately 39 full-time and 7 part-time personnel, serving over 21,000 residents, covering 13 square miles, including 5 industrial parks.
