Summary: Radnor Township Fire Department is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to serve as the Department's Fire Chief. This position offers an excellent opportunity to lead a Fire Department servicing the Radnor Township community, to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.
Responsibilities: The Fire Chief's primary duty is to manage and lead the Radnor Township Fire Department. The RTFD is staffed with part-time scheduled firefighters/EMTs and volunteers and performs essential services including fire suppression, fire prevention, building inspections, fire inspections, assisting Delaware County EMS crews on EMS calls, and public education. This Fire Chief is responsible for the supervision of personnel and the operation and administration of a department, training, reporting to the Board of Trustees, budgeting, engaging in community relations, and ensuring the Department's compliance with state, federal, and local requirements. The Fire Chief may be expected from time to time to provide emergency response to fires or medical calls, and any other duties as assigned by the Radnor Township Board of Trustees.
Qualifications: The expected qualifications for candidates include:
• High school diploma or equivalent; Valid Ohio driver's license.
• Ability to become approved to operate Township fire apparatus upon employment.
• State of Ohio Firefighter 1 (120 hour), and EMT Basic. Certification as a Firefighter II (240 hours) and EMT Paramedic is strongly preferred.
• Fire executive training and leadership experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to pass physical fitness test, drug screen and background check. Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Commitment to public service and community safety.
Working Hours: The Fire Chief is expected to work a minimum of approximately 20 hours per week, mostly during normal business hours, as necessary to successfully manage the Department. Irregular hours, weekends, or nights may be necessary.
Compensation: This position is a salaried-exempt position, with an initial salary of $500/week.
