Job Opening: Chief of Fire Department
Introduction:
The Fire Chief is a highly visible position that requires an energetic individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to foster a strong team environment. Successful applicants will have experience in planning and have a broad background in all aspects of service delivery including Fire Suppression, EMS, Fire Prevention, Recruitment & Retention.
Experience:
The successful applicants should have at least 10 years of fire service experience including documented supervisory experience at the shift commander level or higher. At least five years performing fire and emergency medical service instruction at a fire department or preferably at a joint vocational school or Community College.
Required State of Ohio Certifications:
Firefighter II, EMT-Basic or Paramedic, Fire Safety Inspector, Fire and Emergency Service Instructor, and a valid Ohio driver’s license.
Other Certifications (Recommended but are not needed for consideration):

Live Fire Instructor
•
Ohio Fire Executive (OFE) Certification.

Fire Officer I and II Certificates.
•
FEMA IS-100 Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS 100)
•
FEMA IS-200 ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents
•
FEMA G-300 Intermediate ICS
•
FEMA IS-700
•
FEMA IS-800.A National Response Plan (NRP), an Introduction
•
HazMat/WMD/PPE Awareness & Operations Certification\
•
Active participation in a training schedule of advanced firefighting or any equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
