Over recent weeks, we have seen a significant pro-labor shift in the federal framework regulating union organizing activity. A revamped National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) has resorted to rulemaking on an unprecedented scale. Among other things, these developments will shorten the period between representation petition and union election by 50% or more, and impose a first-ever labor law posting requirement advising employees of their right to engage in organizing activity. These new requirements, both of which are scheduled for implementation on April 30, 2012, will empower unions from coast to coast.
Between now and then, employers will have a limited window of opportunity to protect themselves and their workers. The best way to do so will be to engage in proactive steps to optimize the effectiveness of their employee relations programs and procedures. To assist you with this process, Melanie Webber, a partner in the Cleveland office of Fisher & Phillips LLP, will present a webinar offering practical guidelines for fine-tuning your program to effectively minimize exposure to organizing activity under the new legal framework and to develop a more comprehensive strategy going forward.
This hour long webinar is free, but registration is required.
