Dear Rhetorical Theory and Criticism Interest Group Members:
As we prepare for CSCA’s 2012 conference in Cleveland (March 28-31), I have an announcement and a few requests.
First, the Interest Group’s CFP is now posted on CSCA’s website: https://associationdatabase.com/aws/CSCA/pt/sp/callforpapers_rhetorical. Submissions are due on September 30th this year. We invite a variety of formats, so please start brainstorming ways that you can participate. Also, please feel free to send me any ideas that you might have that could be tied to the location of this year’s conference.
Second, I have developed a very brief survey for you to complete to let me know whether you can serve as a reviewer, chair, and/or respondent for this year’s conference. It should take you no more than a minute to complete. Please finish the survey as soon as you can: https://spreadsheets.google.com/spreadsheet/viewform?formkey=dGFSOElkZTFHX0pZSGFjQVVFeFA4ZkE6MQ.
Finally, at our conference in Milwaukee this year, our division members agreed to start naming our top paper awards. Our $100 allowance from CSCA will be split among the winners, who will receive certificates and have their names added to the awards section on CSCA’s website. We unanimously decided that the awards should honor Dr. David Zarefsky and Dr. Karlyn Kohrs Campbell, but we still need to decide which award – between the Top Paper Award and the Top Student Paper Award - will be named for whom. Please email me by AUGUST 10th, at ryan.michael.shepard@gmail.com with your preference. For more on Dr. Zarefsky, see: http://www.communication.northwestern.edu/faculty/?PID=DavidZarefsky. For more on Dr. Campbell, see: http://www.comm.umn.edu/faculty/profile.php?UID=campb003.
I look forward to working with you all in the coming year, and know that we will produce an awesome program for 2012.
