What faith skills do our young people need to acquire for a life of service and devotion to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ? This workshop focuses on necessary faith skills and techniques to help your youth develop them. Gary Pecuch, Director of Youth and Family Ministry for the Southern Ohio Synod, will show how he helps students develop and implement “I believe” statements, personal standards, personal mission statements and personal ministry plans. We’ll learn about these and other faith assets that we want to build into our youth by the time they graduate high school.

Q. What is ClearPlay?
A. ClearPlay is a DVD player that enables you to enjoy all of the great Hollywood movies you’ve always wanted to watch—without all of the junk you don’t want.
Q. How does it work?
A.The ClearPlay DVD player seamlessly skips and mutes content based on 12 categories that you can set. ClearPlay Filters are hand-crafted by a team of Filter Developers who watch the movie and masterfully select where the player will remove content.
ClearPlay works with thousands of movies. New Filters are generally made available the same day as new releases.
Filters are then made available to members via a very easy-to-use download process. You can then copy the entire Filter library to your FilterStik™. Once inserted into your ClearPlay player any movie will automatically be filtered.
Q. What is required to use ClearPlay?
A.If you would like to watch your movies with ClearPlay, you need the following:
Visit clearplay.com for details. You can also purchase a clearplay DVD at locations like Walmart and Amazon.
The last of the three sessions will be offered at four locations this coming spring. The agenda at all four locations will be identical. The second half of the session will deal specifically with the National Youth Gathering. RSVP attendance to Jen Jarman (jjarman@goodshepherd.com)

Lutheran Disaster Response is in the process of arranging to sponsor a special work service opportunity in Joplin, Mo., in the days immediately before and the days immediately following the 2012 ELCA Youth Gathering. Groups may have the opportunity to work on building projects underway in Joplin and stay in a dormitory at Joplin’s Missouri Southern State University.
This opportunity will be for a limited number of groups, and participation will be by selection through a process that will be advertised in February's gNews. Strong preference in the selection will be for groups that can demonstrate advanced building skills amongst the youth and/or adult counselors. Think now about whether your group may be right for this job and look next month for information about how to apply.

Imagine singing to 36,000 high school students, just like yourself, in the Mercedes Benz Superdome at the ELCA Youth Gathering. This year’s Gathering theme is “citizens with the saints” and it will take place from July 18-22 in a city that has seen the devastation of Hurricane Katrina and experienced the outpouring of God’s love through moments such as the last gathering of ELCA youth in 2009. The Dome Creative Team is searching for creative and talented Lutheran high school and college students to be vocalists in the Dome House Band.
The 411
If you will be between the ages of 15 and 21 in July 2012 and are available July 14-23 without interruption you may apply. This includes rehearsal days prior to the Gathering, nightly performances Wed-Sat in the Superdome and the Sunday Gathering worship. You will also be expected to learn the songs in the months leading up to the Gathering.
As members of the House Band, your airfare and lodging will be provided for you along with meals. Important! You’ll be working, lodging and performing in a tightly knit band of musicians and singers that have many songs to learn and performances to give, so your commitment to the House Band doesn’t allow for outside activities with your own youth group.
