Many people from around the country and around the world have sent monetary donations in support of the rebuilding efforts in Haiti. Volunteers also have begun streaming into the country. Because of the limited supplies in the areas hit hardest by the earthquake, the volunteers coming into the country must be monitored so there aren't too many people there at one time. There's lots to do, but work will need to continue for a while.
So, if you would like to go to Haiti as a volunteer, please register through USAID and/or contact Mary Woodward, Disaster Response Coordinator for Ohio Lutheran Disaster Response (LDR), before you pack your bags and head south to Haiti.
Mary Woodward is coordinating a team of Ohio volunteers who will serve in Haiti in the next month. Please contact her at 740-509-1132 or mwoodward_1@msn.com.
Donations are still being accepted for health kits being put together by Ohio LDR. Cash donations are also being accepted by Ohio LDR or the ELCA.
Ohio LDR donations can be mailed to:
Ohio LDR
810 Main St.
Caldwell, Ohio 43724
Please make checks payable to Ohio LDR and write "Haiti Relief" in memo field if you wish your donation to be used for Haiti recovery efforts.
