Deadline for the First RSA Undergraduate Research Workshop Extended to February 1, 2014
 
Undergraduate students will submit a work-in-progress paper that they want to work closely with an established scholar in the field to revise. Accepted students will work in small groups with two established scholars during a two hour seminar. For our 2014 RSA Conference, the established scholars include:
 
•Barry Brummett (University of Texas at Austin)
•Lisa Flores (University of Colorado)
•Jane Greer (University of Missouri-Kansas City)
•Katherine Langford (Texas Tech University)
•James Jasinski (University of Puget Sound/University of Washington)
•Trish Roberts-Miller (University of Texas-Austin)
•Jim Brown (University of Wisconsin-Madison)
•Malea Powell (Michigan State University)

Applications: To apply to participate in the Undergraduate Research Workshop please submit the materials requested below by email to both G. Mitchell Reyes (mreyes@lclark.edu ) and Trish Roberts-Miller (redball@mindspring.com ) by February 1, 2014. Also feel free to contact Kendall Phillips with any questions: kphillip@syr.edu  
 
Please include the following information in your application email:
 
•Your name and contact information
•The name of your educational institution (or the one you recently graduated from)
•A letter of recommendation
•A title of the essay you would like to workshop, plus number of pages
•A 200-word abstract of the essay
 
Acceptances: Accepted participants will be assigned (in small groups) to two established scholars who will lead the seminar from 2:45 - 4:45 on May 23, which is the Friday afternoon of the conference. We will contact those accepted by February 15, 2014. At that time, the established scholars will inform participants of the process and the deadline for sharing drafts among group participants. Each participant will be expected to read and be prepared to discuss the drafts of all participants. The established scholars will also provide further instructions for the seminar as the conference approaches.
 
Undergraduate workshop participants will have until March 15, 2014 to register for the conference.
