New Single Pharmacy Benefits Manager (SPBM) Resources


The Ohio Department of Medicaid has released several new resources to help pharmacy stakeholders and providers better understand the Single Pharmacy Benefits Manager (SPBM). To honor our commitment to transparency, we’d like to take the opportunity to share these resources with you.

ODM hosted two webinars with pharmacy communities and stakeholders to introduce information about the SPBM, including an overview of the entities supporting the future pharmacy program and insights into how the SPBM will work with specialty pharmacies. A third webinar on SPBM pricing will be scheduled soon.

Additionally, due to increased stakeholder interest in the single PBM program, ODM has published the SPBM Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). The FAQ is a living document and will be updated as new questions are submitted to ODM. The latest version is available here. It covers topics such as dispensing fees, ingredient costs, the Ohio Average Acquisition Cost (OAAC) survey, contracting, and claims processing. But remember to check back periodically for updates.
