Pharmacists from all practice settings will be energized with the CE programming on current clinical treatment of common disease states, as well as Ebola virus in today’s news. In addition, the program offers two hours of Ohio Board of Pharmacy-approved jurisprudence credit!

Terri Ghitman, R.Ph. from the State Board of Pharmacy will review many Recent Changes in Pharmacy Laws and Rules that impact pharmacy practice. Former State Board Executive Director Bill Winsley, R.Ph., MS will help pharmacists identify the “Red Flags” of Drug Diversion, the pharmacist’s responsibility in determining if the prescription has been written for a legitimate medical purpose and how to say NO to filling a suspicious prescription.                 

The number of deaths related to falls, especially, in older adults, is skyrocketing in Ohio. Pharmacist Sara LaBella, R.Ph., PharmD and physical therapist Tiffany Johnson, PT, DPT will share a team approach on how pharmacists can help their patients Prevent Falls. Ebola Virus news is all over the media today. Charles Mosler, R.Ph., PharmD will discuss vaccines and medications under investigation to prevent/treat this deadly virus, as well as a brief description of other tropical diseases that pose major health threats worldwide today.

At the Midyear, you will also learn how Insulin Pumps are used to manage diabetes, plus newer therapies on the horizon from Chris Westrick, R.Ph., PharmD, who is living with an insulin pump. The potential causes, signs, symptoms, and treatment options of managing Congestive Heart Failure will be presented in a patient-case format by Aimee Wallace, R.Ph., PharmD. Also, Kayla Durkin, R.Ph., PharmD will update pharmacists on prescribing guidelines for ADHD.
