How did you get interested in the profession of pharmacy?
During high school, my father suggested that maybe I should check out pharmacy. I didn’t think much of it until I attended a Pharmacy Day event held by the OSU College of Pharmacy. As I sat in Parks Hall 107, and listened to Dr. Ken Hale, Jerry Cable, and Doc Lamberjack talk about the profession of pharmacy, I began to feel that maybe I had found my home. Before diving in, I needed to ‘try out’ pharmacy. I became a pharmacy technician and fell in love with the profession. I continue to be grateful for my pharmacy family and the many opportunities it has provided to me. I am truly blessed to have found a profession I love and a supportive family along with it!

Why did you choose OPA as a rotation site?
There were a couple of reasons. First, I was interested to see the workings behind an association such as OPA. I was interested in understanding how the association worked and the day-to-day life of the association staff. Second, I’ve always been interested in policy, advocacy and legislation. After coming to understand the importance of advocating for the profession of pharmacy, I’ve also come to understand the importance of OPA. I wanted to be a part of this and learn how I can increase my involvement in the association. Third, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend a month at OPA. I couldn’t pass it up!
