Ohio Board of Building Standards Presents: Building on the Code!
Registration for the Building on the Code Series is now open. The course, “Fire Alarm System and Smoke Alarm Requirements for Residential Occupancies” will take place on Monday, April 28, 2014 from 9:00 AM – Noon. The Ohio Building Officials Association will present this 3-hour course, which will review fire and smoke alarm requirements in residential occupancies and their application through “real world” scenarios. The content will be based on the applicable sections of the Ohio Building Code effective November 1, 2011 and the Residential Code of Ohio effective January 1, 2013.
This class is approved for 3 hours of continuing education credit for BO, MPE, BI, FPI, NRIUI, RBO, RPE, RBI and RIUI. This class is also open to the public, and there is no cost to attend. Can’t make the in-person training? Watch the Webcast on April 28, 2014 or organize a viewing by weblink or CD with your local OBOA Chapter or other professional association at a later date.

Register to view the Webcast only if you want to receive the 3 hours of continuing education credit for the above certifications. To receive credit, you must coordinate your viewing of the Webcast with a certified building department. Contact the primary building official to make arrangements prior to registering. The primary building official of the building department is required to certify your viewing of the Webcast by completing the attached validation form. **You do not have to be an employee of the department.** Designers wanting a certificate for viewing the Webcast should contact the BBS.
The CD of the course will be available approximately 4 weeks after the presentation.

This education series is funded by the three percent and one percent assessments collected on behalf of the Board by certified building departments from the construction industry. These funds help ensure that certified building department personnel have sufficient training and resources to provide a high level of service to our regulated community, reducing unnecessary costs and increasing compliance.
