2013 Webinar sponsored by NCDA

Presented by: Dr. Lee Covington Rush

Wednesday April 3, 2013

1:00-2:00 pm Central Time

Engagement or Resistance: The Social Justice Impact on Career Counseling and Career Development

This presentation will locate the Social Justice movement within the context of the history of vocational counseling and counseling interventions. Particular attention will focus upon the re-emergence this social justice paradigm against the backdrop of the now displaced perspective of value-neutral counseling. It will be proposed that this displaced perspective may have created in some career counselors and counselors in general, a resistance to this socially / environmentally focused agenda.

Specific strategies for initiating three forms of Social Justice (education, activism, and advocacy) will be addressed in relationship to career counseling interventions and the career development of historically marginalized / underserved populations.
