World-Class Mobility

While Ohio, like much of the U.S., has a world class highway system, it has fallen behind other states and countries in providing travelers and shippers with multi-modal transportation choices and/or easy, convenient connections between them.

We must certainly maintain our current system of roads and bridges. But as oil grows costlier and metro areas grow ever more central to our economy, we must catch up to other developed countries with new high-speed rail and significantly improved public transportation. We must fix bottlenecks in our freight corridors. We must capitalize on our maritime infrastructure and its strategic location. Our cities and towns must have safe streets for walking and biking to reach transit, schools and jobs. Our increasingly older population needs safe, reliable and convenient mobility alternatives as well.

To Create a System of World-Class Mobility, because residents and businesses alike demand it!

  • Businesses are competitive when they have options for moving goods within a balanced and efficient system that ensures connectivity among all modes.
  • Ohio must attract and retain talent by creating an enviable quality of life.
  • The State transportation network’s performance must be improved.
