2011-2012 Synod Hymn List Posted and Ready for Download
The 2011-2012 Southern Ohio Synod Hymn List is ready for download and use by your congregation. New in this year’s list are “partnership remembrances” for the four overseas partnerships Southern Ohio Synod has with Companion Synods—Mecklenburg, Kazakhstan, Tanzania, and Brazil, as well as special material for Christmas since December 25 falls on a Sunday this year. First English Columbus Goes Green and Gets New Furnace with Help of MIF and Columbia Gas
In 2010, First English Lutheran formed its first Green Team with the understanding that being good stewards of all God’s gifts, including the Earth, is essential for all people of faith. They had a sanctuary that was built in 1912 and an office/classroom addition built in the 1950s. There would be much to improve on, but what should they tackle first? MORE

ELCA Assembly Officially Launches the ELCA Malaria Campaign
Every 45 seconds a child dies from malaria, a preventable and treatable disease. Now the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) will join with Lutheran churches in Africa, to work toward a malaria-free future. This effort is part of the ELCA Malaria Campaign, officially launched by the ELCA Churchwide Assembly August 15 by a 968-19 vote. A goal of the campaign is to raise $15 million over a four-year period. MORE
