BG woman earns award for saving husband with CPR

From: The Reflector

Clark County Fire Commissioner Buck Heidrick and Fire Chief Steve Wrightson presented the Fire District 3 Life Saver Award to Candy Yarnell at a recent Board of Fire Commissioners meeting. Candy performed successful CPR on her husband Herschel when his heart stopped while at home on March 2.

Candy immediately called 9-1-1 and initiated CPR. Firefighters arrived approximately six minutes later and took over CPR. Herschel was transported to the hospital with vital signs. After several days in the hospital, Herschel returned home. He has resumed most of his regular activities.

Herschel taught CPR to hundreds of people in our community when he served as a volunteer firefighter with Fire District 3. Candy also served as a volunteer firefighter with Fire District 3. Candy learned the simple CPR skills that resulted in saving her husband’s life.
