Local police officer saves young girl’s life with CPR

The life of eight-year-old Fiona Daley was saved last week due to the speedy response of local police officer Mike Gavagan, Hebgen Basin Fire District paramedics and EMTs as well as a local woman who called 911.

Daley’s heart had stopped and she was not breathing when Gavagan arrived on scene, but first responders were able to revive the young girl. She was first life flighted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho and then to Primary Children’s Medical Center in Salt Lake City, Utah last Wednesday, June 19.

Daley was running home with her two older sisters from a garden club meeting early last Wednesday evening when a typical trip home took a turn for the worse.

Daley screamed and then fell to the ground along Geyser Street. Her older sisters Maeve and Clare ran to help her.
