Deputy to be recognized for saving man's life

From: WLFI News 18

An off-duty Miami County Sheriff’s deputy will be recognized after his quick actions saved a resident’s life May 30.

Dept. Greg Sutton responded to a 911 call to a neighbor’s home in Amboy. He found a man lying on the floor unresponsive. He began CPR and used an Automated Emergency Defibrillator from his police car to regain a heartbeat.

First responders arrived and took the man to Dukes Memorial Hospital in Peru. He was then airlifted to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne. He is listed in good condition and is recovering, a release said.

Miami County Sheriff Tim Miller recommended Sutton for the department’s life saving award.

A ceremony is planned to recognize Sutton’s actions. A date and time was not immediately released.
