Dewey Seasonal Officer Honored

A seasonal police officer has received national recognition for the heroic July 4 rescue of a Seaford firefighter who went into cardiac arrest.
At a recent Town Council meeting, Lt. Frank Fitzgerald, a fifth-season veteran of the Dewey Beach Police Department, received the American Police Hall of Fame's Life Saving Award.
"Because of Lt. Fitzgerald's prompt and heroic response during a life-or-death situation, the firefighter is now fully recovered," said Chief Sam Mackert, who presented the award.
