11-year-old dies after collapsing at football practice

Andrew Jacob Lamphere of Garden Valley was in a "state of full cardiac arrest" when paramedics arrived at Golden Sierra High School Monday, according to Sgt. Jim Byers with the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office.
At about 7:50 p.m., Andrew reportedly was practicing with his "Junior Midget" football team when, for unknown reasons, he collapsed, Byers said.
Off-duty firemen and coaches immediately treated Andrew until paramedics and fire crews from the Garden Valley Fire Department and Cal Fire arrived "within minutes," Byers said.
