Scouts attempt to break CPR recordWritten by George Harvey, Advertiser CorrespondentToday the Boy Scouts of America, with the Emergency Care and Safety Institute and Cardiac Sciences, were trying to accomplish a Guinness Book of World Record for the most people trained in CPR and AED device within a 24-hour period. With the first rain in weeks, and a significant amount of rain later in the day, the several weather delays made this exciting day challenging. The world record for people trained in CPR and AED device was set in Japan, when 6,500 people participated. Even with the many soggy start times for the training, people were not discouraged to come out and participate in Guinness Book of World Record activity. For the 8 p.m. session, the group grew to almost 1,200 people. It was an amazing sight to see more than 1,000 people spread out in the arena leaning over CPR dummies training to get certified. |
