A new implantable defibrillator is being called an "emergency room in your chest," delivering live-saving jolts to victims of sudden cardiac arrest, a killer that claims more than 1 million lives each year.
Ohio State University’s Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital is one of the first facilities in the country to implant a next generation defibrillator in a patient, according to a press release on the study.
Doctors said the device means instant help after sudden cardiac arrest.
