'Good Samaritan' nurse comes to aid of injured motoristBy TARYN LUNA / The Dallas Morning NewsAdam Golden is a nurse who supervises the night shift at Forest Park Medical Center's intensive-care unit. That means he has to be ready for anything from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. four days a week. And on his day off Thursday, when an emergency unfolded just feet from his doorstep, the 26-year-old was prepared for that, too. About 11:30 p.m., a sedan crashed into the back of a U-Haul truck outside Golden's apartment in the 3000 block of Blackburn Street. Golden went outside and knocked on the car's window to see if the driver was OK. Immediately, the nurse knew something was wrong. The man's "agonal breathing," a reflex that can accompany death, triggered Golden's nursing instincts. |
