Clayton EMS Crew Honored for Saving Resident's Life

By Marilyn McConahay, Englewood Independent

Clayton resident Robert Morris was on hand at the city's Feb. 18 council meeting to see five Clayton EMS crew members receive recognition for saving a life.

That life was his. Morris, 65, is crediting the five crew members - Capt. Brian Garver, firefighter/paramedics Jim Ake, Brent Gallup, Courtney Wilson and Firefighter/EMT Tim Moore - with his survival last year when he suffered Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SAC) at his home.

"On Dec. 9, 2009, Clayton 3, Medic 85 and Engine 85 all responded to a 911 call of an unresponsive male lying the bathroom floor," Asst. Fire Chief Mark Ashworth told the council and visitors at the meeting.
