Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association Elects Stacey Rampy
By Jill Talley
Washington, DC (February 2, 2010) - The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Association (SCAA) has elected Stacey Rampy, principal with Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti Inc., to its Board of Directors.
"As SCAA looks to elevate its role in public policy, we will value Stacey's knowledge, expertise and guidance just as her clients do," said Robert J. Schriever, chairman of SCAA's board of directors. "Sudden cardiac arrest is the nation's leading cause of death, but is still woefully neglected by government agencies as compared to other diseases and conditions in terms of funding, research and basic data collection. Stacey's substantive knowledge of health care issues and considerable public policy experience will help SCAA expand its legislative presence as we continue to raise awareness, create safer and healthier communities and work to eliminate unnecessary deaths from sudden cardiac arrest."
As a principal at one of Washington, D.C.'s most highly regarded government affairs firms, Rampy builds bipartisan coalitions to enact or shape legislation, develop policy and provide regulatory and strategic advice. Prior to joining Mehlman Vogel Castagnetti, Rampy was a senior lobbyist with Merck & Co. On Capitol Hill, she served as legislative director to Representative Anna Eshoo (D-CA), senior legislative assistant for health for Senator Robert Torricelli (D-NJ) and legislative assistant to Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA). Rampy is a graduate of the University of Michigan and the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law.
"Having participated in numerous health-related legislative efforts, it's evident that a critical need exists for additional resources addressing awareness and prevention of sudden cardiac arrest. I'm honored by this opportunity and look forward to working with the growing volunteer base that SCAA has built," said Rampy.
