A Fantastic Voyage
NE Ohio Chapter Helps Educate Public on Plaque
SCAA of NE Ohio volunteers helped to educate the public about atherosclerosis and the risks of heart attack, stroke, and sudden cardiac arrest over the Labor Day weekend event, a "Taste of Cleveland". In a cooperative arrangement with the Lorain County Community College School of Nursing, nursing students, along with other SCAA volunteers staffed the "Us Against Athero" exhibit, which is a traveling, interactive educational tour sponsored by AstraZeneca. They helped to usher visitors into the "Artery Explorer", an air-conditioned motion simulator which takes guests on a ride through the arteries to see how plaque builds and what we can do to prevent it. The "Taste of Cleveland" event was attended by thousands of Ohioans.
