Candidate Endorsements
For the 2010 election, the Ohio Restaurant Association made political endorsements for the first time in its 90-year history.
The restaurant industry is under increasing threats from well-intentioned lawmakers and bureaucrats. Therefore, it is more important than ever that our members and our association be actively engaged in politics at all levels of government. Endorsements provide us with a powerful tool to impact elections. Ultimately, our goal is to elect candidates who will let you run your business without unnecessary, costly government regulations.
The ORA's Board of Directors established the following criteria for making endorsements:
- the candidate's voting record on issues impacting the restaurant industry;
- responses to the ORA Candidate Questionnaire;
- the candidate's relationship with association members;
- our perception of whether the candidate is approachable and open-minded;
- the candidate's leadership skills; and
- his or her electability.
An ORA endorsement was made to candidates who satisfactorily completed a questionnaire and whom our Board believes support public policies that will allow the restaurant industry to grow and prosper.
