Hooked on Evidence

Hooked on Evidence' a grassroots endeavor by our profession to provide clinicians with evidence for PT interventions. In April 2005, there were 2000 extracted articles in the Hooked on Evidence database with more being added daily. "Hooked" has an advanced search feature making it easy for clinicians to find information about an intervention for a patient. The information available includes the patient population tested, the type of setting the subjects were from (so you can see if your patient is similar), the intervention given, and the author's stated outcome. At this time, the database does not provide a judgment of the quality of the study although it does provide the number of subjects and the study design so that you can make validity judgments of your own. If you would like further information about the topic, the database provides a link to a free PubMed website where you can search for more information.

It is anticipated that Hooked on Evidence' will soon contain clinical scenarios that will provide evidence based information for the management of patients with knee conditions, low back pain or LE impairments post stroke. The use of the Hooked on Evidence' database is free to all APTA members and available to non-members for a fee. Click Here to access the Hooked on Evidence' database.
