American Osteopathic Foundation

The AOF offers a variety of grant, scholarship, and award opportunities to osteopathic medical students, residents, physicians, researchers, and osteopathic centers/programs.  Through these opportunities, the AOF is able to recognize some of the exceptional individuals within the osteopathic profession who are making a difference.  For more information click here.

NIH Research Loan Repayment Program

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) sponsors five Loan Repayment Programs: clinical research, clinical research for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, contraception and infertility research, health disparities, and pediatric research. Through these programs, the NIH repays up to $35,000 of education debt of those pursuing careers in biomedical and behavioral research.

Ohio Loan Repayment Program

Through the Ohio Physician Loan Repayment Program (OPLRP) primary care physicians agree to practice primary care medicine 40 hours/week in a Health Professional Shortage Area (HPSA) or former HPSA. They also agree to treat a percentage of Medicaid and Medicare patients equal to the percentage in their service area. In return, they receive up to $80,000 of medical school debt repaid ($20,000 over a four-year period). Participants must be primary care physicians in the Family Practice, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or OB/GYN.

Indian Health Services

The Indian Health Service (IHS) is currently accepting applications for its loan repayment program (LRP). Applications will be accepted beginning January 18, 2008, and will continue to be accepted until all funds are exhausted for fiscal year 2008. Applicants who do not receive funding by September 30, 2008 will be notified in writing. Applications must be submitted on the form entitled "Application for the Indian Health Service Loan Repayment Program," identified with the Office of Management and Budget approval number of OMB 0917-0014.
