Senate Approves Physician Immunity Bill

The Ohio Senate amended and passed SB 86 (Physician Immunity), May 19, by a vote of 22-10.  The bill grants qualified civil immunity to a physician, physician assistant, dentist, or optometrist who provides emergency medical services, first-aid treatment, or other emergency professional care in compliance with the federal law or as a result of a disaster. The OOA has endorsed the bill, which was initiated by the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
