OOA Sends Letter To Support HB 81 (Diabetes)

The OOA sent a letter to all members of the Ohio House of Representatives voicing support for the Diabetes Cost Reduction Act, HB 81.  The bill requires new health care policies, contracts and plans to provide insurance benefits for equipment, supplies and medication for the diagnosis, treatment and management of diabetes.  The bill also enables patients to obtain self-management education.  Ohio is one of four states that has not enacted this type of law.  The Marietta Times and Athens Messenger printed an op-ed by Jay H. Shubrook, DO, a diabetologist from Athens, urging legislators to support the bill.
