Legislative/Regulatory News
Ohio Congressman Steve Stivers, Co-Sponsors the Academy-backed H.R. 3216, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Ophthalmologic Service Establishment Act
After meeting with several local ophthalmologists, Congressman Steve Stivers officially signed on as a co-sponsor to H.R. 3216, the VHA Ophthalmologic Service Establishment Act, which establishes a full-time national ophthalmology program director in the VA. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has communicated to Congress that it is working to establish a full-time ophthalmology director. However, it appears the process is going to take at least nine months so the American Academy of Ophthalmology will continue to work with individual representatives to gain their support for this very important initiative.
The Academy and the OOS will continue to work with other members of the Ohio Congressional delegation to gain their support. If you have questions about H.R. 3216 or any other federal or state legislative or regulatory issue, please contact OOS executive director, Todd Baker, at (614) 527-6799 or via email.

Be Sure To Update Your Records with New CGS Addresses
We have been informed by CGS, Ohio’s Medicare Part B Provider, that many providers are still using old mailing addresses. Please be sure you are using the updated addresses effective Dec. 5, 2011, or you may have mail returned to sender or delayed claims. See the information below from CGS.
CGS Statement
Effective December 5, 2011, CGS consolidated mailroom locations to coincide with the final transition of J15 segments. Please use the NEW mailing post office boxes listed below. The Chattanooga, Tenn. addresses are no longer valid and in the future, mail sent to those locations may be returned to the sender. Also, please closely check that you are using the correct address for each inquiry type. When mail is sent to the wrong address for the inquiry type, it results in a delay in processing that inquiry/claim.
