Ohio Soybean Association Elects Officers for 2009-2010
WORTHINGTON, Ohio - The Ohio Soybean Association (OSA) Board of Trustees recently elected officers for 2009-2010 during the September board meeting. These executive committee positions include the offices of chairman, president, vice president, treasurer and secretary. Those elected to these positions are responsible for the implementation of board policies and procedures, as well as carrying out the roles for their respective office.
Elected chairman was Mark Watkins of Hardin County. Watkins most recently served on the executive committee as president for the past two terms. In addition to OSA, he is a past Hardin County Farm Bureau president, member of the Ohio Pork Producers Council and the Ohio Corn Growers Association. He currently produces soybeans, corn, wheat and hogs on Watkins Farm with his brother near Kenton.
Jeff Wuebker of Darke County was elected to his first term as president after serving the past two terms as vice president. Wuebker is the co-owner/operator of Wuebker Farms, LLC near Versailles, and is a certified crop consultant. In addition to producing soybeans, Wuebker also manages a sow, weanling pig and steer operation. His is also actively involved in local agriculture and community organizations.
Bret Davis of Delaware County was elected to his first term as vice president after serving two terms as treasurer. He currently grows soybeans, corn, wheat and hay on his farm near Delaware, and is a past president of the Delaware County Farm Bureau and Farm Service Agency board of directors.
Jerry Bambauer of Auglaize County was elected to his second term as secretary. Bambauer grows soybeans, corn and wheat and manages a swine finishing operation. He is active on the Auglaize Provico Board of Directors and is a member of the Auglaize County Farm Bureau and Ohio Corn Growers Association.
Elected to his first term as treasurer was Mike Heffelfinger of Van Wert County. Heffelfinger grows corn, soybeans and wheat on his farm and operates a small hog feeding operation during the summer months. He is a member of the Van Wert County Farm Bureau and is president of Farm Focus and past chairman of the Van Wert Extension Advisory Council.
The Ohio Soybean Association is governed by a 24-member volunteer farmer board dedicated to education and promotion, as well as to uniting producer interest through support of legislative activities beneficial to the Ohio soybean industry.
