Complete Story 01/05/2009Reinhard Joins OSC Board of TrusteesContact: Jamie Butts Ohio Soybean Council 614.476.3100 jbutts@soyohio.org NEWS RELEASE January 5, 2009 Reinhard Joins OSC Board of Trustees WORTHINGTON, Ohio - The Ohio Soybean Council (OSC) Board of Trustees recently welcomed a new board member during the OSC annual meeting. Steve Reinhard of Crawford County was elected to represent District 6, consisting of Crawford, Wyandot and Seneca Counties. Reinhard replaces retiring board member, Steve Miller.
Reinhard currently raises soybeans, corn and wheat on his family's farm near Bucyrus. He is a member of the Ohio Soybean Association, Ohio Corn Growers Association, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, Crawford County Farm Bureau and the Crawford County Soil & Water District. Active in the community, Reinhard serves as a volunteer firefighter and is a member of the Bucyrus Chamber of Commerce. He also represented the 82nd House District in the Ohio House of Representatives for four terms. "I'm honored to become a member of the Ohio Soybean Council board," said Reinhard. "This is a great opportunity and I will work hard to represent my fellow Ohio soybean farmers." In 1991, Reinhard received bachelors' degrees in agricultural economics and agricultural education from The Ohio State University. After teaching Agricultural Education and serving as the FFA advisor at Crestview High School, he was elected to his position in the Ohio House of Representatives and began farming full-time. During his legislative service, Reinhard has received the Legislative Leadership Award from the Ohio Educational Service Center Association, was named "Legislator of the Year" by the Ohio Soybean Association and the Ohio Corn Growers Association, and the United Conservatives of Ohio gave him their Watchdog of Treasury award in 2006. Other recognitions include Clean Fuels Ohio's 2006 Outstanding Public Official and 2004 Friend of Main Street. Headquartered in Worthington, the Ohio Soybean Council is governed by a 17-member volunteer farmer board, which directs the Soybean Promotion and Research Program. The program's primary goal is to improve soybean profitability by targeting research and development projects through the investment of farmer-contributed funds. -30-
