Buck Elected to Third Term as NCSRP Vice President
WORTHINGTON, Ohio - Ohio Soybean Council (OSC) board member and Marion County soybean farmer, John Buck, was elected yesterday to his third term as vice president of the North Central Soybean Research Program (NCSRP). Buck has served as OSC's representative on the NCSRP board since 2003, and has also held the position of secretary/treasurer. He is looking forward to another term as vice president.
"I'm very proud that the NCSRP board has shown this faith in my ability to serve as vice president for a third term," said Buck. "I'm looking forward to the great research projects planned for the coming year, as well as some new communication tools that will really help get critical information to farmers more efficiently and serve their needs."
In addition to his position with OSC and NCSRP, Buck is also active in other agriculture organizations, including serving as a board member for the Ohio Soybean Association. He is a member of the Ohio Corn Growers Association, Ohio Wheat Growers Association, Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, and is a 4-H and FFA alumni. Buck raises soybeans, corn and wheat on his farm near New Bloomington.
NCSRP was established in 1992 to coordinate soybean research efforts on a regional level and is comprised of state soybean checkoff boards in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Research initiatives include a focus on minimizing the effects of soybean diseases and pests to maximize soybean yield, while coordinating state research teams to achieve maximum research effectiveness and create greater producer profits.
Headquartered in Worthington, the Ohio Soybean Council is governed by a 17-member volunteer farmer board, which directs the Soybean Promotion and Research Program. The program's primary goal is to improve soybean profitability by targeting research and development projects through the investment of farmer-contributed funds.
